High-pressure methane adsorption behavior on deep shales: Experiments and modeling

چکیده
Understanding methane adsorption behavior on deep shales is crucial for estimating the original gas in place and enhancing recovery shale formations. In this study, within lower Silurian Longmaxi formation from Sichuan Basin, South China was conducted at pressures up to 50 MPa. The effects of total organic carbon (TOC), temperatures, clay minerals, moisture content capacity were discussed. results indicated that excess increased, then reached its peak, finally decreased with pressure. data fitted using models, it found Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) model superior other models predicting behavior. capacities exhibited strong positive correlations TOC negative relationships minerals. temperature, while opposite trend would occur once exceeded some presence sharply capacities, reduction occupy sites pores, which could result decreased.

High-pressure experiments and modeling of methane/air catalytic combustion for power-generation applications
The catalytic combustion of methane/air mixtures is investigated experimentally and numerically at gas turbine relevant conditions (inlet temperatures up to 873 K, pressures up to 15 bar and spatial velocities up to 3 × 106 h−1). Experiments are performed in a sub-scale test rig, consisting of a metallic honeycomb structure with alternately coated (Pd-based catalyst) channels. Simulations are c...

متن کاملHIGH PRESSURE BEHAVIOR OF KCl: STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES
The high pressure behavior of the structural and electronic properties of KC1 is studied with use of the density functional pseudopotential method within local-density approximation. Atzero pressure, the rocksalt phase is found to be lower in energy than CsCl structure. However, we predict a phase transition into CsCI structure at a pressure of about 1.5 GPa. The calculated ground state pro...
متن کاملDissociation of methane under high pressure.
Methane is an extremely important energy source with a great abundance in nature and plays a significant role in planetary physics, being one of the major constituents of giant planets Uranus and Neptune. The stable crystal forms of methane under extreme conditions are of great fundamental interest. Using the ab initio evolutionary algorithm for crystal structure prediction, we found three nove...
متن کاملOn the Compaction and Viscous Behavior of Deep-Water Reservoirs
There have been many studies on reservoir compaction where different mechanisms being suggested as the reasons behind the integrity of unconsolidated reservoirs during production. Theory of poroelasticity is often used to evaluate the likelihood of compaction under these circumstances, but it is often failed to explain the creep behavior of unconsolidated formations. In this study, attempts are...
